Originally scored as part of the documentary, "Clear Reception with David Letterman," Blue Fire was inspired by a visit to a glass blowing center. During the visit, the large number of furnaces raised the temperature considerably, despite it being much colder outside. This piece, inspired in part from the post-minimalist works by Phillip Glass, portrays the process of how glass starts as a simple figure  and is then blown and shaped into an elaborate piece of art.
